After performing the first characterization tests (DSC, Rheometry) on the available materials that met the basic specifications. In this project, we looked at the the different materials investigated in the previous years and decided to focus on the study of polymers which had not been investigated yet, as well as an easy-to-use material for the draft. These 6 printing materials are listed above.

 

In view of the available printing materials and analysis of their properties, nGen_flex and Nylon_230 have shown to be the most adequate candidates for the final flexible and rigid printing parts of our object respectively. The main selection criteria were the choice of materials able to resist temperatures up to 120ºC, having high chemical resistant, of which one had to be flexible and the other stiff, as our final model (The Clamp) will be made out of parts presenting different flexibility.
